Elizabeth Terry is a native of Asheville and has been playing and teaching Suzuki and traditional styles of music pedagogy in the area since 1994. Elizabeth studied music performance at the UNC Greensboro and finished her musical education with a Bachelor of Arts degree at the UNC Asheville. She has performed on violin and viola with various local chamber, orchestral, and musical theatre ensembles including the Asheville Lyric Opera and Brevard Philharmonic. Elizabeth is currently the orchestra director at East Henderson High School and Flat Rock Middle School. In addition to classical music, Elizabeth plays swing and jazz fiddle and has performed original compositions and jazz standards with numerous local ensembles including Driving Blind, the Midnight Quartet, Surreal Circus, and Beacon Village Strings. Elizabeth has also fiddled with the band Jumping the Gun and other groups for contra dances in the WNC region. Elizabeth lives in Swannanoa with her daughter, boyfriend, and two cats.
