Meet Eric

Eric Scheider, cellist, is a native of Buffalo, NY. He is the director of the Echo Cooperative ( and the Jubilee! Summer Orchestra (, both based in Asheville, where he lives with his wife Emily. In addition to performing with Cafe, Eric performs regularly in a variety of orchestras and ensembles across the Western Carolinas and Eastern Tennessee. In addition to conducting, performing, arranging, composing, and teaching, Eric also records for a variety of wonderful projects, from Baroque to Folk to Jazz (including a few MTV movies). His main teachers were Susan Krystaf and Robert Carapetyan. He also studied cello and voice at the Eastman School while completing a BA in Philosophy from the University of Rochester.
