Eric Scheider, cellist, is a native of Buffalo, NY. He is the director of the Echo Cooperative (www.echocooperative.org) and the Jubilee! Summer Orchestra (www.jubileeorchestra.net), both based in Asheville, where he lives with his wife Emily. In addition to performing with Cafe, Eric performs regularly in a variety of orchestras and ensembles across the Western Carolinas and Eastern Tennessee. In addition to conducting, performing, arranging, composing, and teaching, Eric also records for a variety of wonderful projects, from Baroque to Folk to Jazz (including a few MTV movies). His main teachers were Susan Krystaf and Robert Carapetyan. He also studied cello and voice at the Eastman School while completing a BA in Philosophy from the University of Rochester.
